The GLD Solvent is for stubborn stains caused by strong discolouration, that are not easily removed by mild or strong leather cleaners.

Discolouration is becoming increasingly common with light-coloured top-grain leather. This usually affects car and furniture leather and is caused by dyes from clothing or belts rubbing off onto the surface of the upholstery. The resulting discolouration cannot be removed using common commercially-available cleaners.

First try and remove the stains with Mild or Strong Leather Cleaner. Also use the Leather Cleaning Brush. If this doesn’t solve the problem, then use the GLD Solvent.

Lightly damp a white cloth with GLD-Solvent and carefully clean the discolouration. Always test on a hidden area first. Because GLD-Solvent slightly dissolves the colour coating, take care not to remove too much. If too much colour is removed or visible stains remain, the areas can be re-coloured with Leather Fresh. Where a high opacity is required, apply several layers and dry in between with a hair dryer. To avoid further discolouration, the leather should be regularly protected with Leather Shield. Leather Shield is a good protection against discolouration. Only apply Leather Shield on clean leather.

GLD auf einen sauberen, weißen Frotteelappen auftragen und damit die Oberfläche vorsichtig säubern. Durch das GLD wird die Lederbeschichtung angelöst. Mit dem Entfernen der Verschmutzungen kann etwas Farbe gelöst werden. Man muss daher vorsichtig sein, um die Farbschicht nicht vollständig abzutragen. Sollte es zum Farbabtrag kommen, oder lassen sich die Verfärbungen nicht vollständig entfernen, dann müssen solche Bereiche mit Leder Fresh in passender Farbe nachgetönt werden. Bei stark gedunkelten Flächen die Tönung mehrfach auftupfen und zwischendurch mit einem Haarfön trocknen.

Um weitere Abfärbungen zu vermeiden, muss die Oberfläche regelmäßig mit unserer Leder Versiegelung nachgepflegt werden. Dieses Produkt mindert die Penetration von Farbstoffen in die Lederfarbe. Zur Sicherheit sollten auch alle bisher nicht betroffenen Kontaktflächen mit der Versiegelung behandelt werden. Die Versiegelung aber immer nur auf saubere Flächen auftragen. Gegebenenfalls vorher mit dem Reiniger mild oder stark säubern.
